Meet the Doctors

Nino Garrolini, DVM

Nino Garrolini is the founder and owner of Channel Islands Veterinary Hospital and Las Posas Veterinary Medical Center. He was fortunate enough to grow up and obtain his education around the world. Born in La Crescenta, California where he attended elementary school, his family then moved to Singapore during his middle school years, and the Philippines for high school, with a couple of summers spent in a small town in northern Italy where his parents were from. He came back to California and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in marine biology at Cal State Long Beach. He went on to earn a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in the Philippines which culminated in a clinical rotation at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1983.

In 1987 he built and opened Channel Islands Veterinary Hospital and five years later followed with the opening of Las Posas Veterinary Medical Center in 1992. Dr Garrolini enjoys treating all types of canine and feline cases but has specific areas of interest in orthopedic and soft tissue surgery (especially reconstructive knee surgery) and diagnosing and treating particularly difficult and challenging cases in internal medicine.

His other interests include cycling, sailing, skiing, traveling, wine collecting and cooking. His family includes his wife Karen (the administrator for both of the hospitals), two children, two rescue cats Banksie and Dutchess, and a golden retriever CD (Camarillo dog).

Dr. Scott D. Anderson, DVM

Dr. Scott D. Anderson has been interested in animals his entire life. Growing up on a farm in Virginia, he started working with the large animals at age 11. He spent three years at Virginia Tech as an undergraduate studying biology and was then accepted into the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech. He graduated in 1986 and spent his first three years out of school doing mixed animal practice (large and small). He then “got smart” and moved inside to do small animal emergency medicine for six years. He joined Channel Islands Veterinary Hospital/Las Posas Veterinary Medical Center in February of 1997 and is a full-time doctor at Channel Islands Veterinary Hospital. He enjoys helping people by helping the pets they care for and love.

He lives with his Senegal parrot, Raffles, Kala, a Siamese kitten and a chihuahua named Ancho. He enjoys traveling, and tasting fine wines and food.  He shares these interests with his wife, a veterinarian with emphasis on exotic animals.

She enjoys activities that take advantage of the weather here: cycling, hiking and reading by the ocean! She has completed multiple Century Bike Rides (100 miles) and sprint triathlons, in which she has taken up to 5th place out of hundreds of entrees. She currently lives with her shelter rescue, Pomeranian, Lexi.
